About my name
|

Since 2003, I have been working on data mining and machine learning research
at IBM Tokyo Research Lab. (TRL). My current research interest lies in
unsupervised learning from time-series data, which includes:
- Anomaly/change detection
- Time-series clustering
- (Nonlinear) correlation analysis
For detail, see my publication list (also DBLP).

My academic background is both mechanical engineering and theoretical physics.
I graduated from Tomakomai National College of technology and Tohoku University
in mechanical engineering. I received my M.Sc and Ph.D in theoretical solid
state physics from the University of Tokyo, in 1997 and 2000, respectively.
My Ph.D thesis was about "nonlocal screening effects" in resonant
inelastic X-ray scattering phenomena in strongly correlated electronic
systems. [more info]
In 2000, I joined the display technology group at TRL, where I developed
a random dot pattern generation technique for optimizing the configuration
of micro light scatterers used in liquid crystal displays. [more info]
Since 2003, I have engaged in several data mining projects at TRL. I'm working as a sort of data analysis consultant, focusing on knowledge discovery techniques from real-valued data generated in manufacturing industries. For more information, see the project page and my latest publication list.
